Interested in getting a massage gun for injuries or soreness? Then here are a few things that you want to look out for when choosing the gun for you.

In the past, Theragun has been the most cost efficient and affordable choice when comparing the price of high powered massage guns. However, Hypervolt definitely takes the number slot due to its effectiveness and convenience.

Although Theragun is powerful and puts a lot of pressure on sore or aching body parts, Hypervolt does the same with a lot less sound and irritation. The sound difference is actually pretty huge and, when trying to relax or work with clients, it creates too much discomfort.

Hypervolt also comes with unique attachments that you can’t really get from the Theragun brand. For example, Hypervolt offers a two-pronged edge that allows for work in between bones which you are supposed to avoid putting pressure on. This is great for your forearms, traps, quads and calves.

Let’s get into the details of why I chose Hypervolt over Theragun.

Why I Chose The Hypervolt Massage Gun

Hypervolt Percussion Massage Device (Check The Current Price on Amazon): Hypervolt is definitely the leading brand due to its convenience and effectiveness which comes from the lack of sound and unique attachments. It’s just as powerful as the Theragun and is a better product as it hits those hard to reach spots without hitting bone.

I am a personal trainer in California and the owner of Aspire Fitness Walnut. I work with a variety of clients some of which are therapists and physical therapists. My client and friend, Steven runs his own Chiropractic Clinic in Rowland Heights and he was the one who had recommended that I get a Hypervolt over the Theragun.

He brought in the two guns and had me compare the products. I chose the Hypervolt immediately due to its lack of sound and its unique attachments that the Theragun lacked. You only really get a circular or pointed edge while the Hypervolt has attachments that allow you to work around certain parts you don’t want to hit.

Steven instructed me to never hit bones or joints with any Massage gun as they can actually cause some damage rather than improvement. There are many muscle groups on the body so make sure you feel for muscle before putting the gun on the spot.

The Hypervolt provides a deep tissue massage which research states provides a temporary relief in pain and discomfort (1) . Relief of pain comes from both the strengthening and flexibility of certain muscles so make sure that you are ready to commit to workout and stretching routines instead of relying on a therapy gun.

I wouldn’t recommend buying one if you are going to rely on the gun to solve the issues you have with certain body parts.

What To Look For In a Massage Gun

  • Power, enough impact to feel discomfort

  • Sound, quiet while still powerful

  • Variety attachments, look for attachments that have shapes where it can prevent hitting bone (Two-Pronged Edge, Flat Edge, Bullet Edge)

  • Good Handle, massage guns are powerful which means you need a good grip to make sure you can use it effectively

  • Battery Life, most guns have a good battery life so this won’t be too hard to find

  • Different Power Settings, every person has a different pain tolerance. Having different settings provides alternatives for everybody

  • Easy Transfer, each products comes with a nice box so this is pretty easy to find

Here Is a Video That Tests Sound: Hypervolt vs. Theragun

You can see the difference between the sounds and why it matters. The theragun, although a good product, can really be biting to the ear especially when you work on your traps, shoulders, or chest. This makes for a very irritating experience especially if you are working on clients or patients.

There’s so much more you get from the Hypervolt that you don’t really get from the Theragun. There’s variety, way less sound, and different settings which really gives Hypervolt the number one spot. Here is a link to Amazon if you’re looking to get one of these for yourself
